Synopsis: The adaptation of Eileen is sincere and stays true to the novella. The narrative centers on the mousy lead character, Eileen Dunlop. She is a 1960s woman living an uninspired life in a little Massachusetts town. She came back to take care of her sick mother at home, and following her death, she stayed on to look after her father, Jim Dunlop. After being fired from the police department for drinking, Eileen’s father still indulges in heavy drinking and makes trouble by carrying a gun in public.
