Synopsis: The Tearsmith begins when Nica suffers an accident-related loss of her family. She grows up in an orphanage and is not placed for adoption until she is seventeen years old. Nica and Rigel are adopted by a family that have experienced significant loss of their own. Even when the two are opposed to one another and wish to avoid one other, that isn’t usually how things work out. They begin to discover more about the concerns they previously managed to dodge as Nica gets used to a more typical life.
