Synopsis: With just the right amount of tension, surprises, thrills, and scares, the story stays tight. Similar to Sidney in Scream, Jessica is a likeable character that you want to see succeed. It’s nice to see a smart female lead in a horror movie rather than a simpleton, like the one in Barbarian. One instance of this is when she battles the masked murderer in a hair salon. Thankfully, the kills don’t feel monotonous, and some extremely daring decisions—which we won’t reveal here—are included. Nor is there any clunkiness or unneveness in the tone. In retrospect, the twist in the third act makes sense, despite some careless over-explanation that prevents any room for interpretation.
