Synopsis: Gretchen, a 17-year-old with an attitude and ambition for music, is Schafer. In order to create a resort for the peculiar Mr. König, her father and stepmother are relocating the family to a secluded part of Bavaria. Gretchen, who is still grieving the loss of her mother, is furious all the time about having to leave her life in California and spend a year with her dad’s “other” family. Gretchen’s anger is primarily directed on Alma, her younger stepsister who appears to be silent. When you first arrive, nothing appears quite right, and in fact, Mr. König and the hotel he owns have a rather ominous vibe. Gretchen gets to know the guests of the hotel as she works the front desk.
