Synopsis: The world is altered, after a fungal disease wipes out the animal population and violence in 40 Acres 2025. Although in this broken world, Hailey Freeman is a soul who has lived through a prior life as a soldier. She and her Indigenous partner, Galen have built an isolated life on their 40 acres of farmland, in rural Canada, with their kids. Their 40 acres of land is fenced, monitored, and practice survival plans regularly. It is their land, a legacy that has survived the destruction of society. The 40 acres is not just land, it is their safe place. Their life is difficult but would drift between chaos and homelessness. Hailey’s teenage son Emmanuel brought a stranger, Dawn. Therefore Emmanuel’s act of kindness puts the family in jeopardy. As the farm becomes known, dangerous strangers come seeking food, shelter, and freedom from others. Hailey will have to decide to protect this land or to offer mercy, one will lead to death. The film explores how far a mother will go to protect; when to show mercy.
